Liberia experiences internet outage due to Mirai botnet DDoS attacks
The notorious Miria Botnet was utilized again in an attempt to take down telecommunication companies across Liberia. A DDoS (distributed denial of services) attack was launched of more than 500 gbps targeting an undersea server which provides internet connection to the entire country. Original media coverage positioned the attack as if it had taken over the entire country. Later, media outlets confirmed that the DDoS attack caused internet outage in some parts of the country who sited “slow internet” or “total outage”.
