UC Davis Talks about Training
Recently, UC Davis got hit with a phishing attack. Dave Jones, a faculty member at UC Davis, used this case as encouragement for the required, annual UC cybersecurity awareness training. He points out all the tells as to what clearly showed the message was an attempted cyber-attack. We think this is awesome and should prove a testament to every educational (financial, and all) organizations to take upon themselves.
DC cops hit with ransomware
Saturday (January 27th) the Washington Post reported that 70% of storage devices that record data from DC police surveillance cameras were hit with ransomware, eight days before POTUS inauguration. City officials disclosed that police cameras were unable to record between Jan. 12th and Jan. 15th. Allegedly, the hack was simply an act of extortion and did not affect criminal investigations. No suspects were disclosed.
